I'm not sure if the problems people equate with tenure are really problems or just symptoms of something bigger. As my professor Gary Stager would say, 'so we fire all the bad teachers, where are the good ones going to come from?' I think our society as a whole has changed. Maybe tenure doesn't make sense anymore, but I'm reluctant think getting rid of it will solve tons of problems.
